Belief Questions
I hope you will do these yourselves on your own blogs because its interesting to see what other peoples’ opinions are about these topics. You don’t need to link me if you don’t want to, but I allow trackbacks and pingbacks (shows up where the comments are) so you’ll automatically get linked back to this post if you do.
If you don’t have a blog feel free to post your own answers in a comment.
Do you believe in….
Past lives? Yes. I’m pretty sure I either lived in ancient Egypt or I was a nomad in a desert land at some point. I also feel like I was a man somewhere down the line. It would kinda explain the fact that I have some guyish tendencies. I don’t really believe you can come back as a different animal though. I think you stick to a species. My mom had some cats that died and came back to us as a different cat. I know that might sound a little nutty but we have our reasons for believing that.
God? The Devil? Kinda and No. When it comes to a belief in God, I believe in the sense that the Native Americans believed in it. I believed there is a “Great Spirit” that is in everything and it connects us all together. I don’t think its male or female specifically, I think its both. Its everything all at once. I also don’t believe in an all-powerful evil being. The devil is part of the Christian and Islamic faiths (and I’m sure a few others but those are the biggies) and I’m a member of neither.
Angels? I don’t know exactly. I actually have a stronger belief in fairies and nature spirits than I do in heavenly beings. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I feel a closer connection to the earth.
Heaven? I believe we go to another plane of existence when we die, spend some time there and then come back to this plane if we have something else to learn. I don’t believe in hell. Under the right conditions, this world can be like hell. I also think that if you’re an asshole it will catch up with you eventually and in essence, you’ll be in hell.
Aliens? Maybe. If the universe is infinite, then why should we be the only intelligent life?
Totem animals/spirit guides? I have a story for you. You’ll probably think I’m nutty again, but I met mine. I was reading a book about spirit guides (I believe it was this one) and it said that if you tell your guide that you want to meet them, get their name and know what they look like, they’ll appear to you somehow in your physical everyday life as a seemingly normal person. I was at work about a week or so later (this is when I was working at the gift shop on I-80) and I was bored, not really thinking about anything. The turnpike plaza was crowded and I was standing at the cash register when a guy walked by the shop, turned and looked straight at me and said “There you are!” I was kinda confused but I didn’t feel creeped out. He walked up to me and told me his name was “Raymundo Dos Plumos”, which he translated to “Raymond Two Feathers”. I was completely tongue-tied, but I looked at his eyes and felt like I knew him somehow. He was Caucasian, looked about 50-ish, had gray hair and hazel eyes. His hair was pulled back in a short pony tail, he had a bit of a goatee or facial stubble and he was dressed kinda like a biker. Then he said “Okay, bye!” and walked off just like that. I was a little flabbergasted but then I remembered my request. Strangely enough I haven’t “talked” to Raymundo, but I think he talks to me when I get a reassuring voice that tells me to calm down or a thought that maybe I should or shouldn’t do something.

I love that story about your guide. That’s really amazing!
I have a lot of sort of random beliefs that could never be categorized into a religion, but I’m completely okay with that. My idea of God is about the same as yours. I cannot believe that there is a magical, omnipresent grandfather sitting in the sky judging us all as either sinners or believers – I sometimes equate my belief in a sort of Universal spirit to “The Force” in Star Wars. *nerdnerdnerd* Hahaha.
But! I do belief that whatever that power behind everything is interacts with us and helps us. I don’t pray very often but when I do, the universe always sends me a little (or in some cases, a lot of) love.

Past Lives: I believe that we believe whatever we want to believe. When we die we go where we want to go, reincarnation, heaven, become a spirit of the wind, matter, anything really!
God/The Devil: The universe is everything we are all part of one great spirit, there are positives and negatives. Some would call this “the goddess and the god” others would even call it heaven and hell…
Angels: Same with you on the fairies, I belive anything is possible!
Heaven: is a state of mind…
Aliens: um it’s basically ignorant NOT to believe in other life forms…
Totem Animals: Yes I have some, mostly my cats and other animals I feel a magical connection with.

Whoa! So a random dude walked up to you, said, ‘There you are!’ introduced himself as Raymond Two Feathers, and then said goodbye and wandered off?!
Heck, even if he isn’t your spirit guide, that’s a story all on its own! Sounds pretty cool, to be honest.
And lots of your beliefs, ((If that’s what they’re called — I’d rather use a less ‘stuffy’ sounding word, but I can’t think of one at the moment, haha,)) Sound very Native in nature! D’you have any Native American blood, by chance …?
I once did an online survey sort of thing, and I was told by it that I was Adolf Hitler in a past life.
Needless to say, aside from being psyched about having had such an awesome ‘stache, I was quite unnerved. o_O;

Wow, you know, I’m kind of interested in that spirit guide stuff now. Great story!!!
I did have a neighbor that was talking to my dad and he was saying if he died, he’d want to come back as a bird.
He died four days later of a massive heart attack. A robin came up to us and just started eating out of our hands. We gave it fresh strawberries and fruits. It was around for four days, and then dissapeared. It was strange.
..and I also couldn’t get past that you worked on the turnpike – I always wondered how you got home if you worked on one side. Hahaha.

I’m sorry about your Betta! I’m sure mine isn’t going to last very long, the pet store only had three and they were all looking to be in pretty rough shape but I wanted to give one of them a chance. It’ll be sad to see him go, but i’m sure your loss was hard, especially if you’ve had him for a while. They are gorgeous fish, very calming. Peaceful.
I like your story about meeting your spirit guide! That would be quite a surreal experience. I’m quite interested in reading up on this now; i’m part Cherokee so maybe it’s time I start delving into the beliefs and human nature of my ancestors.

The Guide thing is really cool! I believe that Past lives arereal, and that the species are interchangable.

Hi! I came here from Lady’s site and you have such interesting posts!!
There are only few people that I know who discuss these kinds of things. And it’s interesting with what you said about that Raymond two-feathers…. I’m a Catholic but I believe that I am already mixed because of Buddhism of my grandfather (and we’re Chinese… so we do follow some rules such as lighting incense during our grandmother’s death anniv, etc) and also I find some wrongs with it too.
I would like to think about having a past life but I’m not sure… i mean where were we before we opened our eyes for the first time?
I believe in the Lord
Aliens… I do think it’s possible!! Though they might not look insects XD
I do also share the same sentiments that dogs/animals can go live on because some of our beloved pets have passed away and some of the new ones act like them. Well 1 or 2. They do have some traits.

That’s kind of a surreal experience, re: your spirit guide story.
To be honest, I’m not really sure what I believe. Any time any of these sorts of questions come up, and just kind of sit around in nothingness not really sure what to say. I guess I’ve never really given it any thought before. I’m not a religious or spiritual person, so perhaps it’s just because it doesn’t interest me that much. Either way, my answer to all of the above is, “I don’t know.”
Kind of a shoddy answer, but it’s all I’ve got.
